Second Cup Swing will be hosting a special (bi-annual) Essential Swing Dance Workshop for Beginners as well as Experienced Dancers who want to reconnect with their fundamentals. This 8.0 hour comprehensive lead/follow workshop will focus on Connection and Energy (Frame, Flow & Counterbalance!) to see how they are essential to making the dance work both in Jitterbug and Lindy Hop.
This will be a progressive workshop where beginners will get full instruction from scratch and experienced dancers, with a bit of patience, will get to rediscover the core dynamics of the dance.

Prerequisites: None! — However, if you want you and your partners to get the most out of this intense workshop then it'll help you tremendously if you practice two things:
1) Footpatterns for the Jitterbug/6-count & Lindy/8-count ~
2) Keeping a bend in the frame of your arms - letting it neither stretch out too far nor collapse in too close as you either move, or are moved ~
So, find myself or Maricarmen and we'll be glad to spend a little time with you and show you exactly what we're talking about.
I'll certainly be available at the Saturday dances and I expect to be at HSDS on Sundays as well.
Muscle-memory tasks simply require a little time and attention. It can feel like your nemesis but you can in short order train it to be your friend. I can't overstate too much how being comfortable with these mechanics will help you at the workshop and in any attempt you make to learn the dance.

Please pass the word to anyone you think might be interested.

Thanks!
